Join Us in Chicago! Architecture 2030 to Keynote at the AIA National Convention
May 2014 | Announcements

Architecture 2030 will feature prominently at the AIA National Convention this year, held in Chicago from June 26th to 28th. As our recent Roadmap to Zero Emissions publication illustrates, we are approaching a critical time in the building sector as we work towards a carbon neutral future. The AIA has invited Architecture 2030 founder and CEO Edward Mazria to keynote the convention on Friday June 27th, deliver this message, and share exciting new developments on the road to carbon neutral. A panel of prominent architects will follow and examine the critical issues of sustainability and adaptability in the built environment. If you’re attending the convention, you will not want to miss this important event.

Using the 2030 Palette to fill the information gap
On Thursday June 26th, Architecture 2030 and Ed Mazria will outline the information gap that exists between what architects and planners need to do to ensure a low-carbon built environment, and the knowledge and skills required to make that happen.
He’ll begin to fill the gap with a demonstration of the 2030 Palette – Architecture 2030’s free online platform that outlines the principles and actions needed to create built environments that dramatically reduce their environmental impact and exposure, incorporate a high degree of resiliency, and ensure access to inexpensive, renewable, site energy resources. This session will illustrate how architects and planners can apply the 2030 Palette’s strategies and guidelines based on a project’s local conditions. He’ll also cover the interactive features of the visually rich 2030 Palette, and demonstrate how to create and share your own project-specific material and information.

Have your project featured at the AIA National Convention with Architecture 2030 and Energy Star
The AIA National Convention also gives architects of high-performance buildings a great opportunity to showcase their work on a national stage, thanks to ENERGY STAR.
If you’re an architect, engineer, property owner or manager who works on projects that meet the 2030 Challenge targets, it’s likely those projects are also eligible to receive ENERGY STAR certification from the EPA. To raise the profile of ENERGY STAR certification for buildings, the AIA National Convention is featuring a gallery of certified projects. All you need to do is secure ENERGY STAR recognition for your project by May 27th for new buildings (May 16th for existing building renovations), and you’ll automatically be eligible to submit boards for the gallery. For more information:
