Senate Assembly Bill 1065 (Lieber) Greenhouse Gas Building Standards (Amended) (pdf)

This bill will require the California Energy Commission to adopt standards that would reduce the energy consumption (per gross square foot of floorspace) of new residential and new non-residential buildings from offsite sources, on a specified schedule using standards adopted in 2003 as a baseline for comparison purposes.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson issued an executive order requiring that all new state buildings and major renovations meet The 2030 Challenge's call for a 50 percent reduction in fossil-fuel energy consumption from what traditional buildings use.

It is the intention of the Institute or Local Self-Reliance (ILSR) legislation to authorize a task force and appropriate funding to study the impact that current and proposed State of Minnesota Buildings have in regard to Global Climate Change and to make recommendations on the reduction of GHG (Greenhouse Gases) emissions associated with their construction, maintenance and operation. The task force will examine the most cost-effective methods for new and existing State of Minnesota buildings to address this global issue. The task force shall report back to the legislature no later than January 1, 2008.
